Chinese 'Idol' to Feature 'happy and ethically inspiring' Songs
By Mark Einhorn

Chinese 'Idol' to Feature 'happy and ethically inspiring' Songs "No weirdness, no vulgarity, no low taste," said the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television of the TV show "Boys Happy Voice," China's latest version of "American Idol."The Xinhua News Agency has reported that "Super Girls Voice," the female version of the show, which was watched by more than 400 million viewers, drew criticism for promoting vulgarity and that there will be none of that in the male version.

"Boys Happy Voice" is scheduled to air on May 1, and it will feature "healthy and ethically inspiring" songs. The show will keep the atmosphere light and happy, and there will be no screaming fans or crying contestants, as there were on "Super Girls Voice." And, contestants' clothes, hairstyles, language and manners must keep in line with "mainstream values."

Also, in sharp contrast to "American Idol," judges are banned from "mocking and humiliating contestants."

Hunan TV president Ouyang Changlin has said the show will abide by the rules.
