Popular American singer Christina Aguilera is scheduled to perform in Shanghai at the Grand Stage on June 26. Despite China's history of censorship, none of Aguilera's songs have been banned, and she will be allowed to perform however she chooses. This is seen as a sign of greater tolerance by the Chinese censors.
When the Rolling Stones performed in Shanghai last year, they were told not to perform some of their songs, such as Honky Tonk Woman and Brown Sugar.
Aguilera's latest album, Back to Basics, has become the best-selling double album by a woman, and she is one of the most well-known American performers in China.
